Successful events need professional partners

Demaclenko set to sponsor FIS World Cup races on the Saslong
The World Cup races in Val Gardena have been among the best known highlights of the Alpine ski circus since the 1970s. Every year, countless athletes from far and wide take on the daredevil ride along the Saslong, greeted at the finished by enthusiastic spectators.

To enable the event to take place successfully and reliably every year, numerous measures are implemented behind the scenes in advance to ensure that conditions are perfect during the racing weekend. This preparatory work gets under way at a time when most visitors are still basking in summer sunshine.

Key to this, along with many very different components is most notably a snowmaking system of the latest generation which allows the operator to ensure that the required snow is available ahead of the event.

"Through the agreement and the cooperation with Demaclenko, we have secured a partnership which will guarantee that our international event always goes ahead. There is an even greater guarantee of snow thanks to the latest machines installed on the Saslong. This means, firstly, that we are guaranteed that we can hold the World Cup races in Val Gardena properly and, secondly, that we can plan the season for all our partners, such as the International Ski Federation FIS, the publicity agencies, as well as television broadcasters“, said Rainer Senoner, chairman of the Val Gardena-Gröden organising committee, confirming the excellent cooperation with Demaclenko.

After a number of phases of the project in recent years, Demaclenko has focused this year on installing a new pump station and cooling system in order to meet the rising requirements. Thanks to the high-performance pump system which has been customised with precision, the snowmaking system can now be guaranteed to operate with even greater efficiency, permitting the production of snow whenever it is needed.

The new Ciaslat pump station, which is not far from the Camel Humps, has a total output of 1 MW at a delivery rate of 225 l/s and can be extended to perform at twice that capacity through additional expansion. Six cooling towers, which lower the water to the ideal temperature before feeding it directly to the snow guns, ensure selective production of snow.

While Demaclenko has been able to include the operator of the Saslong ski area among its customers for a number of years, this year still marks a special occasion in the partnership between the two companies. This year, for the very first time, Demaclenko will be supporting the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup at Val Gardena-Gröden as an official partner, adding a special significance to the collaboration. Through this sponsorship, Demaclenko is seeking to demonstrate the importance of the event for the entire region and beyond, and also to showcase optimum solutions in snow production to the organisers.

"The fact that racing has only been cancelled once (2004) in the past 16 years, i.e. ever since Demaclenko systems have been installed on the Saslong, shows that we are in good hands. The additional investments which are earmarked for the production of snow on the Saslong will give us even greater motivation and guarantees for the future," Senoner went on to say.

Demaclenko is looking forward to a scintillating weekend of racing set against a breathtaking backdrop and a buzzing atmosphere. We can't wait for the thrills and spills, uncompromising battles and sporting highlights on the snow of the future.
