First major projects in Russia and Italy under starter's order

Preparations for the upcoming winter are already running at full speed, with one of this year’s most important projects on Italian soil agreed by Demaclenko and the Presolana Monte Pora/ I.R.T.A. Spa ski resort at the end of June. As early as last season, Angelo Radici, new majority owner of I.R.T.A. spa since fall 2016, already confirmed his plan to invest in the mountain, as it adds significant value for the entire region.

Angelo Radici’s family history has been closely linked with skiing for decades, which is why the president and CEO of the Radici Group, an internationally known company in the automotive supply industry with a turnover of over € 1 billion was keen to upgrade the facilities on Monte Pora. In addition to its entrepreneurial activities, Sci Club Radici, one of Italy’s largest professional teams, has been family-owned since its establishment, and can look back on highly successful times in the international ski circuit thanks to Fausto Radici’s many World Cup victories.

The ski resort in the province of Bergamo (Lombardy) attracts skiers from the local region in particular to spend their free time on beautifully prepared downhill runs. Due to the low altitude of the ski resort and the relatively high humidity, the company has been investing in expanding the snowmaking systems as well as a new reservoir with a capacity of 40,000 m³ to ensure reliable snow conditions throughout the entire season. In addition to expanding the pumping station and cooling system, the latest project also involves installing over 40 powerful propeller machines, and integrating the entire ski resort in the latest generation of the Snowvisual control software.

When Roberto Meraviglia, CEO of I.R.T.A. spa, and Andreas Dorfmann, CEO of Demaclenko, signed the contract, the first foundation stone for a long and prestigious partnership was laid in the presence of Anton Seeber, President of the LEITNER Group, and Angelo Radici in person, as well as the brothers Fulvio and Lorenzo Pasinetti.

As Russia is primarily known for its cold winters with low snowfall, more and more ski resorts there are fitting technical snowmaking systems to ensure that the resorts can stay open throughout the entire winter.

This year, Demaclenko succeeded in implementing not one but two projects in Russia: besides Veduchi in the Northern Caucasus Mountains, Holdomi has also placed its trust in the company’s professional approach and all of its technical advantages. This year’s construction project involves building a fully-automatic system from scratch, to guarantee reliable snow conditions all season long at the ski resort. In addition to implementing 2 pumping stations, the current project also involves digging over 80 pits and many Titan 2.0 snow guns, which can produce 105 m³ of snow per hour. This rapid and extensive snow production is required due to the temperature conditions and the resulting short times for snowmaking. We will lay a total of 8,600 m of pipelines to ensure that the entire system is supplied with the resources required.

Demaclenko is looking forward to the upcoming challenge in the Russia’s easternmost region, and is convinced that its professional approach and optimal all-round service are laying the foundations for a lasting partnership.
