Powerful snowmaking system and optimum organization for the Worldcup Race at Plan de Corones
As a partner of the event, Demaclenko ensures that the snow is just right during the FIS World Cup races at Plan de Corones.
With the races in Alta Badia and Val Gardena, South Tyrol has long been a fixture of the Alpine Ski World Cup and therefore enjoys great popularity among locals and visitors alike.
In addition to the two existing venues, the Ski World Cup will this year be heading to the Plan de Corones for the first time to contest the Ladies' Giant Slalom. Featuring 116 kilometers of slopes, Plan de Corones is the number one skiing mountain in South Tyrol and is thus also one of the most important and successful ski areas in Italy. The ski area stretches across three mountainsides (Brunico, Valdaora, and San Vigilio) and is part of the "Dolomiti Superski" region.
To enable the event to take place successfully and reliably, numerous measures are implemented behind the scenes in advance to ensure that conditions are perfect during the race. Particularly in winters featuring little snow, as is the case this year, it is essential to ensure perfect conditions on the ground at an early stage so that the racing slopes can be prepared for action shortly before the event takes place. Key to this, along with many very different components is most notably a snowmaking system of the latest generation which allows the operator to ensure that the required snow is available ahead of the event.
Andrea del Frari, member of the SkiWorldCup Plan de Corones Organizing Committee, further emphasizes how crucial this partnership is to ensuring a successful future: “Our cooperation with Demaclenko is not just about generating top-quality snow. Coordinated joint activities should help ensure increased visibility – not only for the World Cup race at Plan de Corones, but also for Demaclenko. Together, we will demonstrate our Alpine expertise!“
This year, Demaclenko has won over all three ski area operators with the performance of its system, supplying over 40 Titan 2.0 snow guns to Kronplatz Seilbahn AG, Olanger Seilbahnen, and Funivie San Vigilio di Marebbe (St. Vigil).
Once the snowmaking equipment for the entire reconstruction of the Hinterberg slope – including snow guns, concrete pits, cast iron pipes, and cabling – had been delivered to the Brunico side of the valley, the Demaclenko team in San Vigilio focused solely on the efficient production of snow on the World Cup slope, which was equipped with over 15 Titan snow guns. An additional benefit for the targeted production of snow on the racing slope is also the programming of the Snowvisual control system, which can be used across the entire ski area through the integration of third party products. The cutting-edge technology featured in the products enables Demaclenko to ensure to the greatest possible extent that the World Cup slope provides an equal opportunity to all competitors, presenting each individual athlete with optimum conditions.
Demaclenko is looking forward to a scintillating race set against a breathtaking backdrop and a buzzing atmosphere. We can't wait for the thrills and spills, uncompromising battles and sporting highlights on the snow of the future.
